I signed up for EIN online and received this code. Could it be the old company I founded earlier? Does anyone know what that means?

I just called the IRS and asked. When I finally got it, they told me to fax the association's articles and maybe they could sign the EIN for me.

If you get an error message asking you to call and report error code 101, don't panic! All of this means that there are many other companies with similar names in the IRS system that can sue without human intervention. I was asked to verify the information on paper. Worst of all, I waited more than an hour (the message said wait 1530 minutes) and when I got there the agent had already spoken and told me that the previous person must have answered.
